Hi everybody,
I would like to take a look at the winAir 4 CFD . Ecotect has an export module to it that I'd like to use. I've tried the link that is in the export panel and I ended at the Wind Tunnel website from Cardiff University. I couldn't find any clue to where is WinAir4 in this website.
Can anybody give me a hand on it? Where can I find information about WinAir4?
Thanks for your attention.
Best regards,
Clarice

CFD code...
[Archived phorum post from squ1.com v2 by craines]
Hi Clarice,
WinAir4 is actually some research code that is continually being developed by the researchers here at WSA, Cardiff University -- for this reason it is not publically available as far as I am aware...
However, the methods that ECOTECT uses to export have been written in such a way as to be flexible enough to interface with different types of CFD code. We are currently looking in to alternate codes that are either already available for purchase (Phoenix, Fluent etc.) or are OpenSource.
In the meantime we are using WinAir4 as a basis for testing the export/interface for CFD.
Andrew has also just reminded me, that for an immediate (and free) option you may like to look at ESP-r from Uni. of Strathclyde... as ECOTECT already exports to ESP-r (mainly tested for thermal calcs at the moment), but ESPr does have a CFD module... www.esru.strath.ac.uk
BTW. if you would like to enquire with the WSA staff about WinAir4 the person to speak with would be Simon Lannon (Lannon@cardiff.ac.uk).

Caroline

Hi Caroline,
Thank you very much for the help with Win Air.
I think I'll conatct Simon Lannon about it. Definitely , it has to be sth free or at least cheap, Fluent is out of question!
ESP-r is a good idea I'll try it.
All the best,
Clarice
