.try files

[Archived phorum post from squ1.com v2 by clarice]

Hi Everybody,

I got lots of .try files for Brasil and I'd like to convert them to .wea files, how can I do this?

This files do not have solar radiation values but I manage to get a software that simulates solar rad values for Brasil. I'd like very much to attach these data to the .wea files so that they can become complete .wea files.

Can anybgody help me with the .try conversion please?

Regards,

Clarice

Clarice,
Can you read these .try file in Excel?
If you can, it can be done.
Why don't you send me one of these .try file.
I would like to check them out.

Clarice,
I have tried to open the .TRY file you have sent me, but I could not make any sense of the data.
Do you have any field headers, so that you know what column is what?
I also tried to open it in the weather tool, using the preset -TRY- format, with no luck.
Do you want to send me another one so I can see if it was that particular one?

Hi Clarice

I don't have the answer for your question but would like to make contact with you. I have been working with Ecotect models using weather data for Sao Paulo, Recife e Brasilia; but mainly Sao Paulo.

Initially, I used a file that I got from Energy +, then imported into Ecotect. But the data from these files quite often does not seem very realistic. I was curious about the software you were referring to (from Brazil?) - which one is it? Is it the software from Labee?

Hi Filo,

I'd also like to make contact with you as I read you were using a weather file from S?o Paulo. I am working in a weather file for Porto Alegre and another for Florian?polis. I've downloaded them from Labeee. I couldn't open the .bin ones but the .try could be opened in excell.
I'm now trying to export them to Ecotect and I'll soon work with the radiation data that aren't available in the Labeee files.

Are you Brasilian? Did you get the data for S?o Paulo in Labeee? Do you know where is it possible to get Brasilian weather files apart from Labeee? I'm desperately looking for this kind of data.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and exchange ideas on the matter.

Regards,

Clarice

Hi guys,

If you are still having troubles converting .try files, just email a copy of one to support - it will eventually find its way to me Smiling. Having poured over countless unformatted data sets in the past, I'm getting reasonable adept at working out what values are what, just by their range and variation.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the help but fortunately I found a file explaining what is what . So I can interpret all the .try files I have as they all come from the same source.

Thanks again,

Clarice
